Former President of the 8th Senate, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has endorsed Play With Kwara Youths (PWKY), describing it as a wonderful initiative, while urging the organisers to use the platform to discover and nurture sporting talents capable of bringing glory to Kwara State.
Saraki gave the endorsement on Thursday, October 1, 2026, when a delegation of the initiative, led by its Convener, Comrade Yusuf Mutiu Olaitan, paid him a courtesy visit at his Abuja residence.
Presenting souvenirs to the former two-term Governor of Kwara State, Olaitan explained that PWKY was established to bridge the gap of disunity among young people across the state and to provide a platform where youths from different political backgrounds and local government areas can interact, compete and build lasting bonds.
He noted that previous editions had successfully brought together youths across political and geographical divides, strengthening the spirit of oneness and brotherhood around the initiative’s guiding motto: “Kwara First.”
Responding, the Waziri of Ilorin Emirate commended the vision behind the initiative and its achievements over the years, describing sports as one of the most powerful unifying forces in the world.
He charged the organisers and participants to look beyond the social and unity objectives and leverage the convergence to identify talents that can bring greater honours to the state.
Saraki expressed delight at being identified with the initiative and pledged his continued support for efforts aimed at advancing its objectives.
The endorsement adds the former Senate President to the growing list of prominent personalities identifying with PWKY, as the initiative prepares for its sixth edition.
