Ogun State APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has revealed that late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, aka Ogogo, was part of his plans for government.
Yayi made this known on Tuesday during a condolence visit to Ogogo’s family in Ilaro, Ogun State. The visit was reported by The Punch Newspaper.
The senator said he planned to appoint Ogogo as his Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture if he wins the 2027 governorship election.
“I told God that if I become governor, my elder brother Ogogo will be my Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture. He understands our culture and he is good at what he does. I kept it in my heart, but man proposes, God disposes,” Yayi said.
Ogogo, a native of Ilaro, died on August 23, 2026, at age 66 after battling stage-four cancer.
Yayi described the actor’s death as a great loss to the entertainment industry. He said Ogogo’s work in Yoruba films touched many lives.
He added that he and other Nigerians supported Ogogo during his illness.
“Despite our efforts to get him treatment, it did not work. May Almighty God accept him,” he prayed.
Yayi commiserated with the family, friends and people of Ilaro. He praised Ogogo for his talent, humility and service to Yoruba culture.
Ogogo was buried in Ilaro according to Islamic rites.
