Radda’s N828bn Budget Targets Education, Agriculture, Healthcare

The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has presented an N828.64 billion budget proposal for 2027 to the State House of Assembly, targeting key sectors including Education, Agriculture, Healthcare, Infrastructure, and Rural Development.
According to a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, and obtained by TheQuickPR on Tuesday, Governor Radda said the budget was designed to improve the living standard of Katsina people while ensuring both rural and urban communities benefit from good governance.
He noted that the appropriation bill prioritizes development, with 76.98 percent allocated to capital expenditure and 23.02 percent to recurrent expenditure.
According to Kaula, the Social Sector gets N317.73 billion (38.34%), the Economic Sector gets N303.17 billion (36.59%), the Administrative Sector gets N198.55 billion, while Law and Justice receives N9.19 billion.
“From the N637.91 billion capital provision, five priority sectors will receive a combined N325.45 billion. Basic and Higher Education takes N83.82 billion; Works and Housing, N71.60 billion; Agriculture and Livestock, N65.88 billion; Health, N53.64 billion; and Rural Development, N50.51 billion. Together, they account for 51.02 percent of the proposed capital budget,” the statement read in part.
Governor Radda described the proposal as the most participatory budget in Katsina State’s history, noting that its priorities were shaped by a Citizens’ Budget Exercise held across the 361 wards of the state on July 18, 2026.
“Our people named their needs, weighed them and ranked them. The first priority project chosen by citizens in each ward now forms a clear, grassroots framework for the 2027 fiscal year. This budget therefore answers the real and pressing needs of our communities, not assumptions made from afar,” he said.
