The Director-General of City Boy Movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, has charged the newly inaugurated Lagos State Executive Council of the Movement to ensure government policies and programmes get to the people at the grassroots.
This was made known in a press release obtained by TheQuickPR and signed by Aminat Aminu-Isah, National Director, Protocol, Media Coverage, Events and Publicity, for O’tega Ogra, Deputy Director General, Media Communication and Public Affairs.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Lagos executive in Lagos on Tuesday, Shoga said the movement was established to bridge the gap between government and citizens through civic participation, youth engagement and community development.
He urged the new officials to ensure that opportunities from government reach ordinary Nigerians, especially the most vulnerable groups.
“Our duty is to ensure that government policies and opportunities reach the grassroots, while also providing a platform for the voices and aspirations of the people to be heard,” Shoga said.
“We are not mere observers of these reforms. We are ambassadors of hope and partners in progress,” he added.
The DG directed the new leadership to expand the movement’s presence across all Local Government Areas, LCDAs, wards, polling units and communities in Lagos. He also stressed that effective leadership should be measured by its impact on the lives of the people.
Shoga further tasked members to see their appointments as a call to service and to uphold integrity, discipline, humility and accountability.
He also expressed confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, citing ongoing initiatives in infrastructure, education, agriculture, social investment and security. He commended the movement’s Patron, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, for his support for youth development and leadership.
“We will continue to raise awareness of government programmes and opportunities at the grassroots,” he said.
Also speaking, the Lagos State Director, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, described the inauguration as a significant step in the organisation’s nationwide growth.
He said the movement is founded on the principles of national unity, responsible leadership, discipline and service, and that the Lagos chapter will adopt a grassroots approach centred on communities, wards and polling units.
According to Ogunlewe, the organisation promotes civic education, voter participation, leadership development, skills acquisition and community service to improve the welfare of Nigerians.
“We are committed to building bridges across ethnic, religious and regional divides, while developing future leaders for Nigeria’s long-term development,” he said.
The event was attended by the movement’s Co-Patron Shettima Jnr; National Secretary Hon. Tosin Odufua; members of the national leadership; deputy directors-general; and members of the newly inaugurated state executive.
