CBM Intensifies South-South Membership Drive, Hits 70,000 Members in Edo

According to the statement, the initiative is designed to strengthen grassroots structures, expand membership registration and equip officers with practical Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills for effective mobilisation, data management and operational coordination.

The City Boy Movement (CBM) has intensified its grassroots mobilisation and digital capacity-building efforts across the South-South geopolitical zone, with its Edo State chapter recording over 70,000 registered members as the Movement expands its nationwide organisational reach.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, and made available to TheQuickPR on Wednesday, the Movement disclosed that the week-long exercise, scheduled for October 26 to November 1, 2026, followed the successful completion of a similar programme in the North-East geopolitical zone.

According to the statement, the initiative is designed to strengthen grassroots structures, expand membership registration and equip officers with practical Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills for effective mobilisation, data management and operational coordination.

The programme brings together State Directors of Contact and Mobilisation, State ICT Directors, Local Government Directors of Contact and Mobilisation, Local Government ICT Directors and Ward Contact and Mobilisation Coordinators across the zone.

Speaking during a visit to the Edo State chapter, the Deputy Director-General, Mobilisation, Hon. Gambo Manzo, commended the state leadership for recording over 70,000 registered members, with an additional 4,000 registrations awaiting upload to the Movement’s central database.

Manzo, who visited alongside members of the CBM App team and the National Director, Protocol, Media Coverage and Event Publicity, Mrs. Amina Aminu, emphasised the importance of translating membership growth into functional grassroots structures and sustained community engagement.

He maintained that the strength of the Movement would be measured not merely by its growing membership figures but by the capacity of its officers to organise, communicate and discharge their responsibilities effectively.

Also speaking, the CBM App Team Lead, Mustapha Adinoyi, explained that the Movement’s digital platform features a five-level points system designed to recognise and reward eligible members for active participation in recruitment and mobilisation activities.

Adinoyi added that the application supports personnel deployment, operational coordination and data-driven decision-making, providing an organised framework for managing the Movement’s expanding membership network.

Receiving the delegation, the Edo State Director, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, announced plans to establish additional offices in Edo Central during the first week of November and Edo North the following week.

Iyamu, who was also onboarded onto the CBM Elite App, reaffirmed the state chapter’s commitment to expanding its grassroots presence and strengthening digital coordination across Edo State.

The Movement explained that the South-South exercise forms part of its broader nationwide strategy to consolidate membership gains, develop skilled grassroots officers and establish reliable communication and data management systems.

It further reaffirmed its commitment to its threefold mandate of Inform, Engage and Empower, describing the ongoing mobilisation and ICT training programme as a strategic initiative to deepen community engagement and strengthen its organisational structures across Nigeria.
