The Chairman, Board of Trustees of Sobi 101.9FM, Dr Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha, on Tuesday hosted members of the Rebirth Movement to a special Arafat Day iftar programme at the Rebirth House, Stadium Road, Ilorin, calling on participants to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, unity, and purposeful leadership.
The gathering, which drew teeming members and supporters of the movement from across Kwara State, provided a platform for spiritual reflection, communal prayer, and renewed commitment to the ideals of compassion and progress.
Participants, including youth stakeholders, women and professionals broke fast while offering prayers for peace and prosperity in Kwara State and Nigeria.
Leading the spiritual proceedings, Islamic scholar Dr Issa Abdullah Gatta described the Day of Arafat as a sacred window for devotion, forgiveness, and sincere repentance, urging participants to harness the season’s spiritual energy to draw closer to Allah.
Delivering the sermon, Sheikh Soliu Olayinka Kewugbemi charged attendees to ground their lives and leadership in sincerity, patience, and the fear of Allah. He stressed that genuine influence must always be anchored in compassion, justice, and accountability to both God and humanity.
“Leadership that is not rooted in service is not leadership at all. The Day of Arafat reminds us that the greatest among us is the one most devoted to the good of others,” the cleric said.
Sheikh Kewugbemi further urged Muslims to carry the lessons of obedience, sacrifice, and communal responsibility beyond the Eid season, warning against limiting spiritual growth to festive periods alone.
The event was also graced by notable Islamic scholars, including Ustaz Hassan and Hussein Al-Abrowu Agbarere, whose presence lent additional spiritual weight to the occasion and reinforced its message of religious engagement and communal solidarity.
The atmosphere at the Rebirth House, by all accounts, reflected warmth, brotherhood, and shared purpose — qualities participants said are central to the movement’s vision of social rebirth and values-driven change.
Several attendees described the programme as both spiritually uplifting and timely, noting that it once again demonstrated Dr Mustapha’s consistent commitment to faith-based community engagement and the promotion of principled leadership in Kwara State.
