The Rebirth Movement has warned against the use of its leader’s name in political scripts he did not author, as it denied claims making the rounds that Dr Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha (LOM) has pledged his support to the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the report as unauthorised and false.
In a press release shared with TheQuickPR, the Rebirth Media team stated that the statement circulating in certain APC-aligned circles did not come from Dr Lukman and was not sanctioned by him.
The group stated that no forum, association, or spokesperson has the authority to speak on behalf of Dr Lukman, insisting that the Captain of the Rebirth Movement remains firmly rooted in his political position and has not entered any alliance with the ruling party.
According to the statement, it has become a recurring pattern in Kwara politics for the ruling party to portray ordinary courtesy visits and social gatherings as political endorsements ahead of elections.
The Rebirth Media Team clarified that Dr Lukman is not engaged in any political talks with any group, as being insinuated, adding that he remains committed to the people and to the socioeconomic development of Kwara State.
The group urged Kwarans and members of the Rebirth Movement to disregard the insinuations, describing those behind such claims as individuals seeking cheap political relevance through fabricated headlines.
It added that when the appropriate time comes, Dr Lukman will personally address his political direction, noting that any such announcement will reflect the political and socioeconomic rebirth the movement has consistently canvassed for.
The statement, signed by the Rebirth Media Team and dated 3rd September, 2026, warned against further use of Dr Lukman’s name in political narratives he did not author or approve.
