The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has warned aspirants seeking elective positions on the platform of the party to maintain discipline and embrace peaceful primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a press statement obtained by The QuickPR through the Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy to the Chairman, Yilwatda stressed that the ruling party would not tolerate acts capable of disrupting its internal democratic process.
Addressing aspirants who recently underwent screening exercises conducted by various party committees, the APC National Chairman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to transparent, credible and democratic primaries across the country.
He warned that any aspirant or supporter found instigating violence, sponsoring unrest, engaging in anti-party activities or undermining the integrity of the process would face severe sanctions, including immediate suspension from the party.
According to Yilwatda, the APC has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most organised political parties, insisting that no personal ambition would be allowed to override the collective interest of the party and national stability.
“In every democratic contest, only one person will eventually emerge victorious. What is important is the spirit with which the process is approached,” he stated while urging aspirants to show patriotism, maturity and sportsmanship throughout the exercise.
The APC chairman further advised aspirants to see themselves as ambassadors of the party whose conduct before, during and after the primaries would reflect the values and vision of the APC.
Yilwatda also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as tireless efforts towards strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring successful internal party processes.
He noted that the President has continued to invest political goodwill and leadership capacity in building a stronger and more united APC capable of delivering sustainable development to Nigerians.
The APC National Chairman urged party stakeholders to align with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and avoid actions capable of overheating the polity or creating unnecessary division within the party.
Highlighting achievements of the current administration, Yilwatda pointed to ongoing investments in road infrastructure, rail transportation, agriculture, energy, digital innovation and support for small and medium-scale enterprises as evidence of progress under the Tinubu administration.
He added that reforms in sectors such as solid minerals, oil and gas, healthcare, education and technology were already yielding positive outcomes for the Nigerian economy.
The APC chairman called on members and stakeholders to remain united in supporting the re-election bid of President Tinubu in 2027, insisting that the achievements recorded so far provide strong justification for continuity.
