The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has empowered over 1,400 young Nigerians with income-generating equipment and cash grants totalling ₦280 million under the Renewed Hope Scale-Up Programme.
The event, held in Jos, Plateau State, saw Yilwatda personally oversee the distribution of 727 sets of tools and equipment spanning key economic sectors, including 20 tricycles, 172 sewing machines, 100 auto mechanic toolboxes, 110 POS machines each paired with ₦100,000 startup capital, 75 welding toolboxes, and 71 phone repair kits supported with solar panels, among others.
The cash grants followed a structured disbursement model. Sixty individuals received ₦1 million each, 140 beneficiaries got ₦500,000 each, 300 received ₦200,000 each, while 900 others took home ₦100,000 each — all designed to provide immediate capital for small and medium-scale businesses.
In a press release made available to thequickpr.com, Yilwatda described the initiative as a direct expression of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, anchored on job creation, poverty reduction, and youth-driven economic growth.
“Meaningful change begins when individuals take responsibility for improving the lives of others,” he said, adding that the programme represents both a moral duty and a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future.
He also pointed beneficiaries toward further opportunities, including access to financing through the Bank of Industry and export training with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, while announcing a monitoring framework to identify high performers for additional support.
Representing Plateau State Governor at the event, Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo commended Yilwatda for translating leadership into tangible benefits, urging beneficiaries to deploy the resources with discipline and focus.
“The Renewed Hope Scale-Up Programme is a bold and practical step toward building a resilient, youth-driven economy,” Piyo said.
