Former Minister of Transportation, Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali has officially thrown his hat in the ring for Gombe State Governor, picking his All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

In a statement made available to thequickpr.com through Alkali’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Umar Alkali Jibril, the gubernatorial hopeful held a brief ceremony with top stakeholders and loyalists at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

The move marks the formal beginning of his 2027 gubernatorial campaign and signals his determination to sustain and expand the developmental strides Gombe State has witnessed.

Senator Alkali expressed his dedication to the party’s vision of transformation and progress.

“In our collective effort to ensure the continuity of the APC’s impactful leadership in Gombe State, today I obtained our Party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the position of Governor in the 2027 General Elections,” he stated.

He emphasized that the 2027 election presents a critical opportunity to reinforce the progress already made within the state and take development to the next level.

Senator Alkali brings decades of political experience and a deep connection to the Gombe electorate. His candidacy rests on three pillars: service, stability, and growth.

According to the statement, Alkal campaign platform focuses on three critical areas. Infrastructure and Economic Strengthening will position Gombe as a regional hub for trade and agriculture. Empowerment initiatives will create sustainable opportunities for youth and women through targeted social investment. Security and Unity will foster a peaceful environment that attracts both local and foreign investment.

“These are not campaign promises. These are commitments rooted in my understanding of what Gombe needs and what our people deserve,” the Senator said.

The acquisition of the APC forms marks the official launch of a grassroots-oriented campaign designed to unite all stakeholders across the state.

Supporters who accompanied Senator Alkali to Abuja described his bid as a “movement for progress.” They cited his track record of accessibility and results-driven leadership as reasons for their confidence in his candidacy.

Senator Alkali called on APC members to remain united and focused on the ultimate goal of delivering a better future for Gombe State residents.
