The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sobi 101.9FM, Dr. Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha, has urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the country’s current challenges, expressing confidence that perseverance and unity will pave the way for a greater and more prosperous nation.
In a Democracy Day message made available to TheQuickPR on Thursday, Mustapha said the celebration provides an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the country’s democratic journey and the progress made over the past 27 years.
He noted that democracy has given citizens the freedom to choose their leaders, express their views and actively participate in governance without fear of intimidation, discrimination or victimisation.
According to him, the democratic system has also created avenues for Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities, states and the country as a whole.
Mustapha said Democracy Day remains a fitting occasion to honour the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes whose struggles and commitment laid the foundation for the democratic freedoms currently enjoyed by Nigerians.
The Sobi FM Board Chairman, however, observed that the occasion should also inspire sober reflection, particularly in light of the security and economic challenges confronting many citizens across the country.
He lamented that many families continue to grapple with insecurity, while incidents of kidnapping and captivity remain a source of concern in several parts of Nigeria, including Kwara State.
Mustapha further noted that economic hardship, unemployment, poverty and other social challenges are testing the resilience of many Nigerians.
Despite the difficulties, he maintained that Nigerians must remain hopeful and united, stressing that the country’s strength lies in the determination and resilience of its people.
“Our strength lies in our perseverance, unity and shared commitment to a better future. With sustained determination, a greater and more prosperous Nigeria is possible,” he said.
Mustapha congratulated Kwarans and Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day and expressed optimism that the coming years would usher in a more stable, inclusive and rewarding democratic experience for all citizens.
