Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday described the newly inaugurated National Secretariat of the City Boy Movement as a symbol of youth unity and progressive nation-building, saying the facility demonstrates what can be achieved when young Nigerians unite behind a common purpose.
The position was contained in a statement made available to TheQuickPR on Friday and signed by O’Tega Ogra, Deputy Director-General, Media, Communications and Public Affairs of the City Boy Movement. The statement said Shettima made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Movement’s Secretariat in Abuja.
According to the statement, discussions during the visit centred on strengthening youth-focused policies, deepening citizen engagement and creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to participate meaningfully in governance and national development.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President commended the Movement for establishing the national secretariat, describing it as the coordinating hub for its expanding grassroots structures and nationwide advocacy efforts.
He said, “This secretariat stands as a testament to what can be achieved when young people unite behind a common and progressive purpose.”
In his remarks, the Patron of the City Boy Movement, Mr Seyi Tinubu, thanked the Vice President for the visit and described the secretariat as a permanent home for young Nigerians committed to contributing meaningfully to nation-building.
He said, “Today is not just about a building. It is about young Nigerians taking their seat at the table of nation-building and refusing to leave. The City Boy Movement belongs to every young person who believes in this country, and this secretariat is where that belief goes to work.”
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, thanked the Vice President for what he described as a historic visit and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to advancing the Federal Government’s development agenda.
Shoga said the Movement would continue to mobilise young Nigerians across the country, promote public understanding of government policies, strengthen trust between citizens and government, and expand its advocacy network nationwide.
The statement noted that the Vice President’s visit came on the same day the APC formally received the completed nomination forms of President Tinubu and Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing the development as significant for the ruling party and its supporters.
Shettima was received by the Minister of Youth Development and Co-Patron of the Movement, Ayodele Olawande; the Vice President’s son and Co-Patron of the Movement, Amir Kashim Shettima Jnr.; members of the Board and National Working Committee; and youth leaders drawn from across the federation.
